Abstract

In living body, oxygen (O2) generates reactives oxygen species (ROS) such as superoxide anion radical (O2- ·). Living body has superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme for elimination of ROS. However, decrese of activity of SOD causes inflammation, cancer, and other deseases. In this study, we synthesized metalloporphyrins as anti-oxidant and anti-cancer drug. Novel alkylsulfonioporphyrin complexes were synthesized. It was revealed that they were effective as anti-oxidant and as anti-cancer agents, by stopped-flow method and cell viability tests, respectively.
