Abstract

Poly(4-metacryloyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) (PTMA) was synthesized as a radical polymer by anionic polymerization. PTMA is rapidly and reversibly oxidized at 0.85 V. The radical formation yield in the sample determined by ESR and SQUID measurements was quantitative. The radical polymer was spin-coated to form a thin film on the ITO substrate. The device with the configuration of Al / PTMA / ITO displayed an ON and OFF state in the conductivity by superimposed voltage. The PTMA devices with different structure (Al / PTMA / Al) and film stack were also discussed.
