N2 - Traffic analysis has recently become important as it was discovered that traffic in most networks is generated by a small number of users. Currently, size is the only metric that is seriously considered as a means of distinguishing between light and heavy traffic. In this paper we analyze correlation between size and rate of packet flows in temporal space and prove that detection of large flows cannot rely on flow size alone.
