    Abstract

A photonic terahertz synthesizer is configured and demonstrated by 100-GH, 300-GHz and 600-GHz signal generation. An optical frequency shifter in an amplified optical fiber loop technique configures an optical frequency comb generator with a resultant optical bandwidth up to 2 THz. An observed phase noise characteristic by the photonic synthesizer is considerable for application to the complex modulation formats even in the terahertz bands.
