The evaluation of office work performance by thermal satisfaction vote

Abstract

In this study, thermal satisfaction vote by occupants, which are assumed to be the overall evaluation of thermal environment, was used to develop an evaluation model of the relative performance of office work. A subjective experiment was conducted in a climate chamber to gather the performance data over a wide range of thermal satisfaction level by four thermal conditions. During 300-min exposure in the chamber, fourteen male subjects worked on six sessions of 30 min three-digit multiplication task. The results of the thermal satisfaction votes and the task performances from the presented experiment and the two previous experiments were merged with a consideration on the differences in the level of performance among the experimental groups. A linear regression was used to propose the relationship of thermal satisfaction vote of occupants and the relative performance of office work.
