Abstract
Thermal diffuse scattering of a superconducting material YBa2Cu3O7-x has been investigated by means of electron diffraction, both at room temperature and liquid-nitrogen temperature. At both temperatures, two-dimensional diffuse scattering distributing on {100}t* planes, which is due to atomic displacements of oxygen atoms in a Cu-O linear chain, is observed in addition to so-called thermal spots around fundamental ones.
