Abstract

The improvement in the thermal environment had been required in railway stations that came to be used as a stay space. Field surveys on thermal environment were carried out at three stations in Tokyo from July 2004 to August 2005. As a result of surveys, the concourses had a lot of thermal problems, low air velocity and high MRT etc., especially in summer. So suggestions for improvement of thermal environment in summer were simulated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software.
