    Abstract

The thermal vibration amplitude of Ti atoms in the top layer of the TiC(111) surface has been measured by a specialized technique in low-energy ion scattering spectroscopy. The root-meansquare amplitude of the surface Ti atoms is ∼0.076 Å along the surface normal at room temperature.
