    Abstract

Procedures are provided to calculate principal permeabilities and directions from data obtained with a whole core type permeameter which has radial and axial flow measurement capabilities with two openings attached to cylindrical curved surface. The conventional plug method to determine anisotropic permeability was also modified to improve its accuracy; plug number and sample spacing were rigorously designed using error sensitivity numbers. To check the validity of the apparatus, experiments were run using anisotropic Berea sandstone.
