Abstract

The on-going surge in demand of high-speed broadband services such as Internet Protocol Television and High-Definition TV signals. For the next generation hybrid access net- works, considering the increasing the bandwidth and data rate while keeping acceptable costs. Our research focus on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technology over passive optical network (PON). In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for Optical OFDMA over PON. We present the performance of this O-OFDMA PON system using IM/DD (intensity modulation/direct detection). This architecture can supporting wireless signals combine with local band signals to transport to the OLT end. The simulation result shows that the BER (bit error rate), degradation trend of O-OFDM signal to optical signal-to-noise-ratio (OSNR) using 24/32/64-QAM.
