Abstract
We have been studying networking service technologies that can be easily adapted to a variety of end-user requirements, which change over time and vary with the environment. The services provided using these technologies are called generically adaptive networking services. They are designed to provide "user adaptability", which means that networks adapt themselves to the user's environment and to changing requirements for services instead of the user adapting to the network. Such services will enable, in the coming information sharing society, users to freely exchange multimedia information without considering location, distance, and even the network itself. This paper describes the adaptive networking service technologies and related works.
