N2 - Social engineering is a hacking technique that steals personal or confidential information by taking advantage of human psychological weaknesses. This paper investigates the trust factors of social engineering attacks on SNSs, by conducting an experiment with 35 participants using a pseudo-social-networking-service application facing a social engineering attack. The results indicate that factors such as the profile details of the attacker and the content of the post do not affect trust, and only a presentation of a negative response to the post affects trust.
