Abstract

In this paper, we have demonstrated the ultra-short electrical pulse generation using a normal metal-semiconductor-metal photodetector circuit (MSM-PD) at low bias voltage. The circuit using MSM-PD has much shorter fall time at the cost of repetition time and also provides high sensitivity and ease of fabrication. This circuit is very suitable for the PSC which is the key technology of photonic packet switching.
