Abstract

This communication will examines certain aspects of Li underpotential deposition (UPD) on single crystal Au(111), Ag(111) and Cu(111) in three different aprotic solvents, dimethylformamide (DMF), acetronitride (ACN) and propylene carbonate(PC). Figs. show examples of the UPD process observed for Ki on the above substrates in PC. The solid curves show the UPD process and the broken curves show the bulk process. These results together with similar results obtained in ACN and DMF are discussed with particular emphasis on the kinetic and thermodynamic aspects governing the reversibility of the UPD process for these systems.
