Abstract

A wavelength tunable and polarization insensitive vertically and contra-directionally coupled semiconductor waveguide type optical add and drop multiplexer (VECCS-OADM) was presented. A low crosstalk characteristic of a device with an deep grating was described. The peak wavelength of the dropped light was 1542.0 nm and the 3 dB bandwidth was 1.0 nm. The crosstalk at 1542.0 nm at the output port was improved to -36 dB.
