Abstract

In this study, the write performance of a head with CoNiFe/NiFe composite film write pole was examined. Write performance was examined for three head types: (I) a head without a CoNiFe film, (II) a head with a single CoNiFe layer at P2, and (III) a head with double CoNiFe layers at P2 and P1. Overall, the double CoNiFe-layer head gave excellent write performance for high coercivity media essential to thermally stable high-density recording.
