In Japan, there are plans to introduce large-scale photovoltaic (PV) power generation. The total generating capacity of installed PVs (September 2014) was approximately 10GW, including both residential and non-residential areas. The large-scale PV penetration is known to cause various problems for power systems, such as voltage increases and generator output changes. This paper presents the results of our study into the system voltage increases and generator output changes that are caused by increasing PV penetration. Our concern is that the generator output changes may cause the generator operating points to deviate from the constraints of the PQ curve. Thus, in this paper we propose a power system operations planning method that considers the generator output changes and system voltages increases. Simulations are carried out with a modified IEEE 14 bus system in order to verify the validity of the proposed method.
