N2 - This paper presents the results of analysis into the adverse effects on vehicle performance caused by the deterioration in capacity of lithium ion batteries installed in plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). Specifically, detailed evaluations were conducted based on simulations to determine the adverse effects on the seven PHEV vehicle performance indices stipulated in Japan. It was concluded that the battery capacity at which the CO2 emissions rate reaches 120% of the level of a new battery is approximately 40% of the initial capacity value.
