Porphyrin derivatives UP1 were synthesized by condensation with N-pentyl orotic acid and bis(diaminophenyl) porphyrin derivative by using BOP reagent. The mixed benzene solution with Glu-M and UP1 was heated at 50°C to obtain a transparent solution. The solution was gelated after standing for 1 hr at room temperature. The benzene casted film of UP1 and Glu-M showed anisotropy, whereas UP1 without Glu-M showed isotropy. However, the anisotropy disappeared after heating at 90°C, which revealed lyotropic LC phase.
