N2 - The special issue of IJPE (International Journal of Production Economics) focuses on emerging theories and practices in relation to building supply chain system capabilities in the age of global complexity. Yacine, Chang, Nongaillard, Bouras, and Jiliu present and implement a multi-criteria decision making approach based on trust and reputation in supply chain. This paper also introduces K-mean clustering algorithm to remove unfair rating scores. Aoki, Staeblein and Tomino provide a better understanding of monozukuri capability as a way to address the increasing product variety in industrial firms. Pal, Torstensson and Mattila concentrates on the constraints faced by Swedish textile-related SMEs, primarily during the economic crises of the past two decades and identify the antecedents and their different degrees of influence on economic resilience. Abdulrahman, Gunasekaran and Subramanian propose a theoretical RL implementation model and empirically identifies significant RL barriers with respect to management, financial, policy and infrastructure in the Chinese manufacturing industries.
