N2 - A pivalamidato-bridged platinum(II) dinuclear complex having equatorial dimethylsulfoxide (dmso) ligands, [PtII2(NH3)2(dmso)2(μ-(CH3)3CCONH)2](ClO4)2 (1) as well as the title complex, [PtII2(NH3)2(α-pyridonato)(dmso)(μ- (CH3)3CCONH)2](ClO4) (2), were structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Although in 2, the oxygen atom of the dmso ligand is oriented to the ammine ligand to make a stable hydrogen bond, such a short hydrogen bond is not observed for either of the dmso ligands in 1. This seems to be due to a steric hindrance between the dmso ligands. 2007
