In this study, adequacy of the discrete element method (DEM) simulations, where the signed distance functions (SDF) were used as the wall boundary, was shown in die filling systems. Simulations of powder flow into arbitrary shaped dies were conducted. For the validation of the SDF model, comparison between the simulation and the experiment was also conducted. The good agreement was qualitatively achieved in the macroscopic powder flow. Hence, the SDF model was validated in the die filling system Consequently, it was shown that the arbitrary shaped die filling simulation was able to be conducted by using the SDF model.
