抄録

When an artificial heart is driven, an extraordinary high spike pressure which is known as a water hammer (WH) phenomenon occurs in the vicinity of artificial heart valves. In this study, the authors make clear the effects of the artificial heart drive conditions on WH phenomenon in our three types of mock circulatory systems which simulate well the blood pressure-flow relationships of the in-vivo situation of total artificial heart, left ventricular assist device, and pulsatile extracorporeal circulation, respectively.
