In-situ feedback controlled pulse shaping was demonstrated when the pulse shaping apparatus was placed before the amplifier. The feedback algorithm and setting parameters were also evaluated. Optimization algorithms were analyzed in terms of the convergence speed and the accuracy of the optimal solution. The transform-limited pulses from Ti:sapphire laser oscillator were diffracted with a grating and collimated with a lens. It was modulated with a liquid crystal spatial light modulator (LC-SLM). The simple harmonic generation intensity was found to increase due to the optimization process for both simulated annealing and genetic algorithms.
