We demonstrated microfluidic electrogenerated chemiluminescence cells incorporated with titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs). SU-8-based microchannels were fabricated on a fluorine doped tin oxide cathodes-patterned glass substrate. TiO2 NPs were coated on the cathodes as an electron injection layer. The enclosed microchannels were achieved by a direct bonding of the SU-8 surface to an indium tin oxide anode-patterned polyethylene terephthalate film via vacuum ultraviolet treatment. A tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) solution was used as an emitter. The proposed device exhibited a maximum luminance of 93.5 cd m-2 at 3.3 V, which is 1.45 times higher than that of device without TiO2 NPs.
