Field survey on thermal comfort in environment-conscious train station

抄録

Train is the most frequently used means of transportation in Japan. Train stations are gaining attention as commercial complex recently, and higher level of comfort is being demanded for the indoor environment including thermal comfort. Field survey of thermal environment measurements was carried out from September to October 2008 in station R. Objective of this study is to examine the characteristics of thermal environment in the station which introduced measures to improve thermal environment. As a result, the configuration of the station, high ceiling and ventilation openings helped to introduce outdoor wind from various directions, and realized high natural ventilation.
