抄録

Composites of γ-TiAl intermetallic compound and a complex carbide (Ti2AlC) have been formed by mechanical alloying of Ti-Al-heptane system followed by hot consolidation. The amount of the carbide can be controlled by the milling parameters. The composites have fine microstructures of an average grain size of a few hundreds nm. Mechanical properties at elevated temperatures have been investigated by tensile tests. At 1073K, different deformation behaviors depending on the carbon content are distinct, while the total elongation is still small. The total elongation of specimen tested at 1273K and at a strain rate of 1×10-3 s-1 exceeds 300%.
