Hydroxyapatite (HA) is often used for bone tissue engineering. In this study, we evaluated a novel method for preparing HA containing immobilized collagen and fibronectin (HICF). We examined the ability of this material to promote bone regeneration in vitro and in vivo. Cell pseudopodia were grown on a HICF disk in vitro. Numerous points of new bone formation were observed around HICF granules at 4 weeks in vivo. These results indicate that HICF provides a surface that promotes bone regeneration.
