N2 - Sedimentation and filtration characteristics of the neutralized precipitates, prepared with different processes, were investigated, with a view to improving the processing and utilizing technology of sulfuric acid mine drainage. The precipitates generated with CaCO3 as a neutralizing agent showed much better characteristics of the solid-liquid separation than that with Ca (OH)2, and bacterial oxidation had a great advantage to accelerate the rate of the oxidation, Fe2+ to Fe3+ in solution, which is necessary as a pretreatment for the CaCO3 and Ca(OH)2, as the ratio of Fe3+ becomes higher in solution, the better the solid-liquid separation characteristics of neutralized precipitate becomes. Microstructure of the precipitates were also examined and pointed out that the degree of (Oko) plane crystallization of gypsum generated during neutralization process had a strong correlation with the solid-liquid separation characteristics of precipitate.
