Performance analysis of polarized oam multiplexing considering the effect of polarization interference

This paper investigates the system capacity of polarized orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing considering the impact of polarization interference. Dipole antenna is considered as the practical radiation pattern and the composition of the received mode signal is clarified by analyzing the effect of cross-polarization interference from other modes, as well as both cross-polarization interference in a certain mode and co-polarization interference from different modes. Based on the interference analysis, system capacity is precisely evaluated by comparison with the isotropic antenna case, employing a link distance and carrier frequency parameter. The numerical results show that cross-polarization interference from other modes rises at the regular mode interval, presenting a significant impact on system capacity, particularly for relatively short link distances or low carrier frequencies.
