N2 - This paper aims to evaluate propagation loss in urban site at 2 GHz employing stratospheric platform. Stratospheric platforms have already been accepted by the ITU as an alternative method of delivering the next generation of mobile communications. In case of outdoor mobile communication by stratospheric platform, propagation loss in a typical urban site need to be examined. In order to investigate propagation loss experienced by this system, we developed ray-tracing tool for simulation and apply to several positions of stratospheric platform in terms of different elevation and azimuth angles. As a result, propagation loss versus elevation and azimuth angle is presented and link budget estimation at several transmission rates for the application of IMT-2000 is obtained.
