The vibration motion control of a small molecule by laser-induced dipole forces was generated. The wave packet motion of H2+ or D2+can be accelerated or decelerated by use of laser-induced dipole force at an appropriate time within one vibrational period. The vibrational population can be moved entirely to v=0 state by wave packet formed by rapid ionization of H2 or D2. The coherent cooling of molecular vibrational motion can be achieved as energy of the wave packet is removed through potential energy. The result concludes that the vibrational wave packet and laser field can exchange energy in either direction by combining coherent wave packet motion with laser-induced dipole forces.
