N2 - Due to higher current capacity of inverters, it has become possible to further improve the power density of the railway traction motor. However, the concrete design method has not been revealed. Thus, in this paper, it is investigated what extent the power density can be improved by designing the induction motor to reduce the number of turns of stator windings. Also, the energy saving effect was verified by the simulations of the electric railway vehicle and 9.9 % energy can be saved in the design of 88% less the number of turns of the stator windings.
