title = "Study on regional ground upheaval phenomenon caused by the rising of groundwater level and its effect on underground infrastructure",
abstract = "In this chapter, in order to clarify the phenomenon of ground upheaval caused by the rising of groundwater level, mapping of ground upheaval distribution using leveling survey data and centrifuge model test was conducted. It was found that ground upheaval has occurred widely in Tokyo, Japan. Results obtained from centrifuge model tests showed a similar tendency with field measurement data. Theoretical study using one-dimensional consolidation theory and two-dimensional finite element (FE) analysis of tunnel deformation are also introduced in the chapter.",
