N2 - Hole-transporting nitroxide radicals, 4-{N'-4-metnoxypnenyl-N'-4-(1-oxyl-3- oxide-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolin-2-yl)phenylamino}phenyl-N-t-butylamine-N- oxide 1 was synthesized. Electrochemical measurements, cyclic voltammetry and ESR measurements during electrochemical oxidation, indicated the first oxidation step of 1 was derived from its nitroxide moiety. ESR and magnetic susceptibility measurements denoted the ground state 1 was triplet. Hole-drift mobility of 1 dispersed in polycarbonate was 3 × 10-3 (cm 2/V·s). Hole-transporting property due to the redox of the unpaired electrons of a polyredical will be also reported.
