The purpose of this research is to verify and improve the effect of a double-skin facade to an atrium. The field measurements and questionnaires were conducted in the atrium with a multistory double-skin facade to evaluate its thermal performance and the indoor environment. It was clear that the thermal environment in the atrium was hot, and the light environment is sufficient from the questionnaires. The average overall coefficient of heat-transfer was 0.9 W/m2 K and the shading coefficient was 0.18, while its thermal performance of each story was not uniform, so improvement was needed. Then it was examined that the change of the supply and the exhaust openings as well as the exchange of the internal glasses for the walls in order to determine the best solution. As a result, the double-skin facade that had two layers and twice the area of openings with walls was the best solution that had the smallest heat load of all improvement measures as maintaining light environment as soon as possible.
