Thanks are due to the crew of R/V Toyoshio-maru for assistance in collecting the tunicate. We thank Professor Takenori Kusumi, Tokushima University, for supplying both ( R )- and ( S )-2NMA. We also thank Professor Hidenori Watanabe, The University of Tokyo, for valuable discussion. This work was partially supported by Grant-in-aids from MEXT (Priority Area 16073207) and JSPS (Area B 16380142).

N2 - Three new serinolipid derivatives, shishididemniols C (1), D (2), and E (3), were isolated as antibacterial constituents of a tunicate of the family Didemnidae. Their planar structures were elucidated by interpretation of NMR and MS data, whereas the absolute stereochemistry was determined by chemical conversions. Shishididemniols C (3), D (4), and E (5) exhibited antibacterial activity against the fish pathogenic bacterium Vibrio anguillarum.
