Thermosensitive block-copolymers grafted on aluminium surface for lyophilic properties control

Grafted block-copolymers containing thermosensitive block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) have been synthesized on the surface of aluminium by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP). Chemical composition of grafted polymeric coatings was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Morphology of grafted polymeric coatings of aluminium surface was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The modified aluminium surfaces are capable to reversible change their wettability in a broad range at variation of temperature in a small interval that allows to control their lyophilic properties.
