Vapor Grown Carbon Fiber (VGCF)-core@LiMn0.4Fe 0.6PO4-sheath heterostructure nanowire was successfully fabricated by an electrospinning method for high rate Li-ion batteries. The fabricated heterostructure has both the electronic conduction path (VGCF-core) and large reaction surface area with high crystallinity (LiMn 0.4Fe0.6PO4-sheath), which enables the high charge-discharge rate capability.
